A huge, colossal, massive thanks goes out to everyone who supported our events in 2019. We raised over £16,500 in our first 8 months, a truly incredibly achievement. We are now busy working on new and exciting fund raising ideas for 2020. Please check back regularly and visit our “Events 2020” page for further details on up and coming events.

26th April 2019 – Live music at Linton Village Hall. Featuring District Blues and The Johnny Storm Band. Tickets £10 each – Event now SOLD OUT!

Total Raised - Over £2,500! We would like to extend our huge appreciation to all the people involved in organising this event, however a special mention must go to one of our Trustees, Jules Frisby, for all the hard work which went into making this event such a success.

2nd June 2019 - Temple Newsam Park - "Race For Life". Several of our friends are taking part in the Race For Life being held at Temple Newsam Park in Leeds under the utterly brilliant name of 'Jog On Geriatrics'. Please support their efforts either by donating through the Cancer Research UK fundraising page https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/jog-on-geriatrics or by donating directly through our website by clicking on the 'Donate' button at the top of the page. Good luck to Bernie, Jeanne, Jules, Meg, Sue, Sue and Sue!

Total Raised - Over £2,200! Massive thanks for all the ladies who successfully navigated the 5km Race For Life and to all the people who sponsored them.

19th July 2019 – Pontefract Races. We are sponsoring a race at Pontefract Races to help us promote The Sunflower Foundation. The race will be called “The Sunflower Foundation Handicap Stakes”. If anyone is interested in joining us in our box, please contact us for more information.

20th July 2019 – Windmill Inn in Linton Beer Festival. The management at the Windmill Inn have very kindly allowed us to have an area at the beer festival where you will be able to chat to us about what we are doing and of course, you will be able to make a donation.

Total Raised - Over £1,700! Huge thanks to Janet and Rachel at the Windmill in Linton for choosing The Sunflower Foundation as their fundraiser for the day. Jules, Beth and Rachel worked tirelessly all day selling raffle tickets, it was a superhuman effort! A special mention goes to Sue and Dave McLaughlin who raised £170 via their coconut shy. A great effort and a lot of fun!

KarenFest
23rd July 2019 – The Sunflower Foundation Golf Day at Wetherby Golf Club – A 4-man team event with the first tee time at 1 pm. The day will start with bacon rolls and coffee. We’ll then play 18 holes of golf. After you have finished your round there will be a buffet style dinner and to end proceeding there will be a prize giving ceremony. Cost is £240 per team and we are looking for 10 teams. Please contact us directly if you would like to play as this will be on a “first come, first served” basis. 
Please note that some major prizes will be on offer during the course of the day including a £10,000 prize for a hole-in-one!! (Terms and Conditions of the prize are available on request. Unfortunately professional and ex-professional golfers will not be able to take part in the hole-in-one competitions)

Total Raised - Over £2,300! Many thanks to all the golfers who took part in our golf day and to all the sponsors who helped us raise a huge amount of money for Cancer Research UK. The weather was brilliant and Wetherby Golf Course was in great condition. 

12th September 2019 – Our next Road Trip – “Monte Carlo Or Bust!” We are meeting in the Windmill Inn on 29th April at 7pm to discuss our next Road Trip. The plan is to drive from Wetherby to Monaco and back over six nights and seven days. The plan is to stay overnight in Paris, Lyon, Monaco, Le Bourget-du-lac, Reims/Empernay with the final night being in Northern France. The closing date for entries will be 15th May 2019. The entry fee is £50 and a deposit of £150 will also be required to secure your place. Your entrance fee will go directly to Cancer Research. We will also be collecting items along the route which will be auctioned off at the Windmill Inn on Friday 20th September 2019 

30th November 2019 – KarenFest. This is an all-day live music festival being held at the Engine Shed, York Road, Wetherby, LS22 7SU. The plan is to have seven bands playing, starting at 2pm in the afternoon through to 11pm in the evening. 

Bands confirmed so for KarenFest are: The Really Hot Chili Peppers, The Reason, The Johnny Storm Band, The 88’s, District Blues, Matt Gouland and Ameila Simpson. At least one more artist to be confirmed soon! Tickets are available now, cost £20 each. Please email us directly at TSF for details on where to purchase tickets.

Band will be on stage at the following times:
  • Amelia Simpson: 2pm to 2.30pm
  • Matt Gouland: 2.45pm – 3.30pm
  • The 88’s: 4pm – 5pm
  • District Blues: 5.30pm – 6.30pm
  • Johnny Storm Band: – 6.45pm – 7.45pm
  • The Reason: 8.15pm – 9.15pm
  • The Really Hot Chili Peppers: 9.45pm – 11.00pm
Total Raised - £7,500 – A massive thank you to the 380 or so people who supported our flagship event of the year “KarenFest”. It was a great success and we raised £7,500 for CRUK. Huge thanks to all the bands and artists who made the day so great by playing and performing so brilliantly. I’d also like to thank our sponsors Linton Logistics, Dencold Refrigeration, Kevin Brown and Joanne Crampin for their valued support. A huge thanks goes out to Dave Medley and Laurence Tasker for all their hard work and excellent stage managing skills, Andy Hardy from True Sounds for providing us with such a great sound and Graham Foxcroft for helping us with the security arrangements. Finally, I’d like to thank Clare Reeder and all the staff at the Engine Shed for allowing us to use such a great venue
